1. 믿음이 약한 자를 너희가 받아들이되 의심에 찬 논쟁은 하지 말라.
2. 어떤 사람은 자기가 모든 것을 먹을 수 있다고 믿고 다른 사람은 약하여 채소를 먹느니라.
3. 먹는 자는 먹지 아니하는 자를 업신여기지 말고 먹지 아니하는 자는 먹는 자를 판단하지 말라. [하나님]께서 그를 받으셨느니라.
4. 다른 사람의 종을 판단하는 너는 누구냐? 그의 서거나 넘어짐이 그의 주인에게 달려 있은즉 참으로 그가 세워지리니 [하나님]은 능히 그를 서게 하실 수 있느니라.
5. 어떤 사람은 한 날을 다른 날보다 귀히 여기고 다른 사람은 모든 날을 같게 여기나니 각 사람은 자기 마음에서 완전히 확신할지니라.
6. 날을 중히 여기는 자도 [주]를 위해 중히 여기고 날을 중히 여기지 아니하는 자도 [주]를 위해 중히 여기지 아니하며 먹는 자도 [주]를 위해 먹나니 이는 그가 [하나님]께 감사드리기 때문이라. 먹지 아니하는 자도 [주]를 위해 먹지 아니하며 또한 [하나님]께 감사드리느니라.
7. 우리 중에 아무도 자기를 위해 살지 아니하고 또 아무도 자기를 위해 죽지 아니하는도다.
8. 우리가 살아도 [주]를 위해 살고 죽어도 [주]를 위해 죽나니 그러므로 살든지 죽든지 우리가 [주]의 것이로다.
9. 이 목적을 위해 그리스도께서 죽으시고 일어나사 다시 살아나셨으니 이것은 그분께서 죽은 자와 산 자의 [주]가 되려 하심이라.
10. 그런데 네가 어찌하여 네 형제를 판단하느냐? 어찌하여 네 형제를 무시하느냐? 우리가 다 그리스도의 심판석 앞에 서리라.
11. 기록된바, 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니 모든 무릎이 내게 굴복하고 모든 혀가 [하나님]께 자백하리라. [주]가 말하노라, 하였느니라.
12. 그러므로 이와 같이 우리 각 사람이 자신에 관하여 [하나님]께 회계 보고를 하리라.
13. 그런즉 우리가 다시는 서로를 판단하지 말고 도리어 자기 형제의 길에 걸림돌이나 넘어질 기회를 두는 사람이 없는지 판단할지니라.
14. 내가 알고 또 [주] 예수님을 통해 확신하거니와 그 자체가 부정한 것은 하나도 없으되 어떤 것을 부정하게 여기는 사람에게는 그것이 부정하니라.
15. 만일 네 음식물로 인해 네 형제가 근심하게 되면 이제 네가 사랑으로 걷지 아니하나니 네 음식물로 그 사람을 망하게 하지 말라. 그를 위해 그리스도께서 죽으셨느니라.
16. 그러므로 너희의 선한 것이 비방을 받지 않게 하라.
17. [하나님]의 왕국은 먹는 것과 마시는 것이 아니요, 오직 [성령]님 안에서 의와 화평과 기쁨이니라.
18. 이것들 안에서 그리스도를 섬기는 자는 [하나님]께서 받아 주시며 사람들에게 인정을 받느니라.
19. 그러므로 우리가 화평을 이루는 일들과 서로 세워 주는 일들을 따를지니
20. 음식물로 인해 [하나님]의 일을 망하게 하지 말라. 모든 것이 참으로 순수하되 실족하게 하며 먹는 그 사람에게는 그것이 악하니라.
21. 고기도 먹지 아니하고 포도즙도 마시지 아니하며 네 형제를 걸려 넘어지게 하거나 실족하게 하거나 약하게 하는 그 어떤 것도 하지 아니하는 것이 선하니라.
22. 네게 믿음이 있느냐? 그것을 [하나님] 앞에서 너 자신을 위해 가지고 있으라. 자기가 허용하는 그것으로 인해 자기를 정죄하지 아니하는 자는 행복하도다.
23. 의심하고 먹는 자는 정죄를 받나니 이는 그가 믿음을 따라 먹지 아니하기 때문이라. 무엇이든지 믿음에서 나지 아니하는 것은 죄니라.

 

1. Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4. Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5. One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7. For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10. But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15. But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16. Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17. For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
20. For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21. It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
22. Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
