고린도전서 8장 킹제임스 버전

1. 이제 우상들에게 바친 것들에 관하여는 우리가 다 지식이 있는 줄로 아나니 지식은 우쭐대게 하나 사랑은 세워 주느니라.
2. 만일 어떤 사람이 자기가 무엇을 아는 줄로 생각하면 그는 마땅히 알아야 할 바를 아직 전혀 알지 못하느니라.
3. 그러나 어떤 사람이 [하나님]을 사랑하면 그분께서도 그 사람을 아시느니라.
4. 그러므로 우상들에게 희생물로 바친 것들을 먹는 것에 관하여는 우리가 우상은 세상에서 아무것도 아니며 한 분 외에는 다른 신이 없는 줄 아노라.
5. 비록 하늘이나 땅에나 신들이라 불리는 자들이 있어 (신들도 많고 주들도 많으나)
6. 우리에게는 오직 한 [하나님] 곧 [아버지]가 계시나니 모든 것이 그분에게서 났고 우리도 그분 안에 있노라. 또 한 [주] 예수 그리스도가 계시나니 모든 것이 그분으로 말미암아 존재하고 우리도 그분으로 말미암아 존재하느니라.
7. 그러나 모든 사람에게 그 지식이 있지는 아니하니 어떤 사람들은 이 시각까지도 우상을 의식하며 우상에게 바친 것으로 여기고 그것을 먹으므로 그들의 약한 양심이 더러워졌느니라.
8. 그러나 음식은 우리를 [하나님] 앞에 내세우지 못하나니 우리가 먹어도 더 낫지 아니하고 먹지 않아도 더 못하지 아니하니라.
9. 오직 너희의 이 자유가 약한 자들에게 결코 걸림돌이 되지 않도록 조심하라.
10. 지식이 있는 네가 우상의 전에서 음식 앞에 앉은 것을 어떤 사람이 보면 약한 그 사람의 양심이 담대하게 되어 우상들에게 바친 것들을 먹게 되지 아니하겠느냐?
11. 그러면 네 지식으로 말미암아 그 약한 형제가 멸망하리니 그를 위해 그리스도께서 죽으셨느니라.
12. 그러나 너희가 이와 같이 형제들에게 죄를 짓고 그들의 약한 양심을 상하게 하면 그리스도께 죄를 짓느니라.
13. 그러므로 만일 음식이 내 형제를 실족하게 하면 나는 세상이 서 있는 한 고기를 먹지 아니하여 내 형제가 실족하지 아니하게 하리라.

 

1. Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3. But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
4. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6. But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7. Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8. But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of your's become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10. For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11. And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12. But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13. Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
